Questions

Where do the portion weights come from?

From the SENC portion table (2004), published by the Spanish Ministry of Health. They are raw, net weights: what goes into the pot, without peel or bones.

Does it include what I throw away when cleaning?

No. The weights are net. For foods you clean yourself, such as fish with bones, buy a little more or work out the trim loss with the recipe cost calculator.

Can I change the grams per serving?

Yes. The calculator suggests the middle of the reference range and you can type your own amount.

Spanish Ministry of Health (PDF, in Spanish).
  • Vegetables and fruit: the WHO recommends at least 400 g a day for people over 10. WHO: Healthy diet.
  • Prices: no prices are included. Enter your own; the results are only as good as that data.
